Good food. Rude and partial service. The complimentary chips and salsa, amazing, fresh, crispy. Try their spicy salsa .(we have to ask for it) Food no complains. Very good , decent portion. The service. I have seen them being fun, friendly and chatty with good looking girls (lol) . Have always experienced shunning kind of attitude, every thing has to be asked twice, never checked back once they served the food, except for the bill. They just throw the plate at you and run away. weather it be lunch during workdays or dinner with family, party with friends. I go here for the good food. So hope they fix that. Not all the servers know their menu well. So that's a problem too

I like the food here. It's good. Scene: I'm sitting at a table alone waiting for the waiter to return and a tray of food is dropped, spilled all around me, and on me. No one says a thing to me. Not a word. I'm wearing enchilada and rice and not a word. The managers are standing around watching the scene and I'm wearing the food. Worst customer service.

The food: We started out with chips and salsa, with a side of queso cheese. The chips and salsa were OK... chips were not homemade :/ The salsa was meh, also. I would give them 3/10 (but can you really complain about free chips and salsa??). The queso was good, but that's one of those things that are hard to mess up. I got the chimichangas plate. It came with a half ground beef, half shredded chicken chimichanga and a ground beef enchilada with refried beans and rice on the side. The chimichanga was really great on the ground beef side, but meh on the chicken side. The ground beef was tender and well cooked, but the chicken was dry. It was covered in queso, which I am definitely not complaining about! 7/10. The enchilada was AWESOME. It was filled with ground beef, and covered in mole and cheese. 10/10. I really liked their beans and rice, too. 9/10. I also got a frozen strawberry margarita. It was... ok. Not very sweet at all, but that means that I could probably easily drink like, four of those suckers. They rimmed the glass with salt and sugar, which I appreciate. 6/10. The service was prompt, but damn, I could feel my server's displeasure working there. It seemed liked waiting on us was sucking the soul out of him. He totally brought down our happy night. No smile, no greeting, just a dead-faced man asking if we were ready to order. He did check back on us regularly and refilled drinks, though. I deduced one star because I think homemade chips and salsa are necessary for a proper Mexican place and another star because our server might have been possessed.

I have been here twice so far, and I'll be honest, I have only gotten one thing. It was the Molcajete. It was so amazing the first time, that my wife decided to get the same thing. If you aren't a big eater, it is enough for two of you. Extremely good service both times. While the place isn't super fancy, it was clean and casual. Great place for lunch!

Food was just not good. Ordered chili pablano. Seemed like it was microwaved and cold inside. Also had the fajitas steak and chicken was so dry I could not finish. Won't be back.

Total bust. This used to be a premium experience, and now for the second time in a year, we have had lousy service. We let the manager know how unhappy we were with it taking 30 minutes to get our food. My wife was content with her usual cheese smothered steak burrito, but my Chicken Taco Al Carbon was a disappointment. The menu could definitely be more specific in the type of hardshell / softshell, but better yet when I questioned the server about it, and he could tell I was not happy with it, their staff needs to learn how to offer to fix the issue. Both the waiter and the Manager claimed that the long wait was due to them being really busy tonight, and I realize at 8pm on a Saturday night you might feel worn out, but the wear and tear is really showing through. If we choose to go back, we'll avoid the weekends. There are lots of other options close by.

The food here is good but if you are hungry or in a hurry this place is not a good choice. We waited 20 min for someone to take our order and 40 mins to get our dinner. Next time chipoltes

We have eaten here 5 or 6 times in the past, and while its not our favorite local Mexican Restaurant, its been "okay" enough that we have returned. On Saturday 12/06/14 we stopped in for a late lunch. The dining room was not crowded but it took several minutes for our inattentive, unconcerned waiter to take our orders. Bad service and mediocre food = no return visit.

My family and I went here this weekend and the meal started off great. We were seated immediately, the chips and salsa were pretty good, and my margarita was delicious. However, our server (Luis?) wasn't very polite and seemed uninterested in doing his job. We spent most of the evening with empty drinks and whenever we needed something we had to chase him down or ask another server to find our server. He just flat out shouldn't be dealing with the public . However, the Latina lady who also worked our area was just lovely and friendly and I wish we could have had her instead. It probably would have made this a 4 star rating instead of a 2 star rating. My wife's chicken was really dry and she didn't like it at all. She barely ate any of her meal. I had fajitas and they were pretty dry. The food was better than some local places but we weren't crazy about it. My child's chicken nuggets were so dry, as they appeared to be way over cooked. We don't plan on returning.

Not impressed! After waiting an hour to get a table, we were finally seated where we waited another 15 min. to order drinks. 2 hours from the time we arrived, we still have not gotten our food order! Not to mention that the waiter argued with me about my drink order (I order light beer, he said I ordered lime). Probably won't be returning.

I had the beef chimichanga and it was delicious. My strawberry margarita was very strong. Service was on the not so good end of things. The lady at the check out was a little rude and seemed to be in a rush to get out. Other than that it was a yummy & pleasant experience.

Service at our table was a lot to be desired. It seems that the sever wanted to play to "language barrier" card. We ordered nachos with a couple of items on the side....so the side items came out right away while the nachos took much too long!!! We had two baskets of chips and salsa along with the sides from the nachos while waiting.... Very disappointed that we filled up on these items and were finished eating when a manager passed by, at that time. We ask that they cancelled the nachos... Low and behold... The nachos showed up within a minute.... Go figure!!! Portion size and flavor was a big disappointment. The nachos were soggy which makes one think the nachos were sitting "in waiting" for the server to serve!! Cannot say that I would recommend this place to anyone in a hurry!!

First - carnitas molcajete is amazing, if it wasn't for this dish I would never come back. Second - service has been horrifyingly terrible the last two times I have been there. We were sitting with our food with no utensils or plates for 10 minutes, ignored by server for 15-20 minutes, and when the manager was informed he said "sorry were running around everywhere today". Moral - order the molcajete for carry out!

For Central IL, this is FIVE stars. What I liked: fresh tasting tortilla chips (even with a bit of grease to prove their freshness), very flavorful salsa (LOVED IT), and fresh tasting food. My food came out piping hot, and I was impressed with the quality. I also loved all of the menu choices! There was a lot that I wanted to try, and I definitely plan to go back!

This place was okay. The chips and salsa were good, but my main dish was bland. The only good thing about the meal was the bigger pieces of steak in the burrito I ordered.

To start my girlfriend and I ordered a water and an iced tea. The tea was very weak, easily see through. That is fine, though. No big deal. Next, it took a while for to get our order taken, but that was ok because there are many, many choices. As we waited, we did enjoy the neat, comfortable booth and the decor. Now as for the food. My girlfriend ordered BBQ fajitas ($12) and I had enchiladas pollo ($8.75 special). My plate came with two enchiladas on the small side, dry rice, and refried beans. Less than most other Mexican restaurants. The taste was bland, and the chicken was on the dry side, but edible. She got quite a bit of food. However, 50% of it was onions. Yes, they bring it out sizzling, but this was burnt. A very distinct burnt, salty flavor. She could not eat it. Luckily I don't waste food, so I traded her meals. I choked down about half of it, but that was all I could take. Too salty, burnt. Almost inedible. Service: Adequate. Waitress refilled drinks well before we ran out. Good job. However, no one asked us how our meal was. I normally never complain, but I wanted to this time. No chance. We paid, tipped 15% (the food is not the waitresses fault), and left... Never to return. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the Peoria area. There is no need to waste your money here. You will get more food and better food for slightly less money elsewhere.

Came here for our first time, was told there would be a table for us in ten minutes. We waited over fourty-five minutes for a table. We then were told we would have our food after 20 minutes then every 5 minutes he'd say just 5 more minutes, this went on for over an hour. We told the manager our complaint and he apologized twice and walked away. Would never go back again.

I'm going to give them four stars because the food is really good , but the service is hit or miss, and I hate the way they do their tickets , you never know what the bill says .

Arrived early enough to get the lunch special. Small draft for $1.50, and reduced daily special made for a cheap lunch. Chicken enchiladas were good. Neither I nor my wife cared for the refried beans. The chip and salsa was great. Fresh chips and the salsa had a good flavor to complement the chips. Not too salty like some places.

Food was good. I gave this a 3 rating, because my wife said the restroom was out of toilet paper. We came when they opened. That should be one of the first things you check prior to the start of your business day.

The food was fine, I just had nachos and they were decent. I liked my margarita as well. Seemed like a well made drink, it wasn't totally watered down and the price was very reasonable. However, my problem came when at 9pm the manager came to our table and informed us they were closed. First of all, I had no idea they closed that early and secondly, I've never, in all the restaurants I've worked in, ever told a customer to leave at closing time. Very unprofessional. We had to rush and grab all our things and get out because it was so awkward. I was just about to mention to my friends that I think they were starting to clean up, but they beat us to the punch. That's really tacky. It's just a courtesy that you let the people finish up their conversation and food before rushing them out the door. They didn't even offer a box for leftovers either. I'll try out the other Mexican restaurants in Peoria before coming back here.

Other than communication issues with our waitress, I really enjoyed my visit for drinks and apps. We were seated right away about 5pm on a Thursday and brought chips and salsa immediately. Salsa is a little spicy so maybe wait to dig in until they bring the waters! I liked that the chips were tri-color although they were a little too crunchy for me. We had the hardest time understanding our waitress, to the point where it was embarrassing. We kept asking "What?" but she just kept repeating herself exactly and not any slower either. I'm usually not that bad with accents but wow, this girl seriously just started learning English the week before. There was a drink special that night of a Mugarita that we could not figure out what it was from her so we just ordered some blue curaco margaritas from the menu. I think later we figured out it was just the slushy margaritas in a beer mug for the special. Our margaritas were very good and all of our service was pretty quick. We ordered the chicken nachos to share and they had lots of toppings (fajita chicken with green peppers & onions) with lettuce, sour cream, guac and pico de gallo on a separate plate. We asked for extra sour cream & guac halfway through and she brought it right out at no extra charge. Overall satisfying trip. She did count our change back to us in Spanish but I have at least watched enough Sesame Street to know my numbers ;) Definitely plan on another trip in for dinner!

Great Mexican food. Server was nice. I waited 45 minutes on a Saturday night. Not bad. The problems I had were minor. The wait is comparable to any other place on a Saturday night but we were told 10-15 minutes. Seemed longer because it was presented poorly. Tell me 30-45 minutes. I'll wait and not be mad that I waited that long. The only other thing that bothered me was the server set a pitcher of water at our table and told us to feel free and fill up our own glasses. What?

Average Mexican food... Waiter didn't understand English very well. There was confusion when ordering.

Got some take out- nearby hotel- and the service was fast, spot on and a good value. The food was good, will go back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
